The Landas Family Shoot

This shoot was done at Orange Hills Restaurant for my mom's b-day. Everybody was a pretty good sport surprisingly. Thanks to Marlor (my sister's fiance) for taking the shots. Oh yeah if you didn't notice my sister didn't follow the memo, the theme was blue NOT yellow!

One Pumpkin To Rule Them All

One Pumpkin To Rule Them All from James Landas on Vimeo.
So last year we made pumpkin bot for our annual pumpkin carving contest. This year we decided to take it up a notch. It started with the idea of a castle then it became Helms Deep. We then felt like we needed a battle scene so we took pics and included everybody in the scene. It was a lot of work but I think we pulled it off. We wanted to just blow everybody out of the water. The competition did step it up this year though. Damn that moving palm tree. We'll see if we win tomorrow (crossing fingers).

Best Man Speech for Bev and Ja

So I haven't blogged in a really long time because of all of the wedding events surrounding Bev and Ja...I must say it was probably the most fun I've had at a wedding...here is my "Best Man" speech for the both of them...it was really nerve wrecking but as you can see I'd do anything for these two!

Bev's part

Ja's part

I might as well put this up here too...again shows that there isn't anything I wouldn't do for these two! (I must admit though it was really fun!)

Final Prints claim the cup!

So our annual company picnic was held the other week. I usually don't go to these things but this year being so close to the Olympics, they decided to make the theme Inter-departmental Olympics . And you know how I am with competition. Needless to say we dominated and took the trophy and a free lunch for the department. Here's a few more pics from the event...

Each department created their own banner...

Apparently I can hulahoop (for a whole 13 seconds)...and took that event

This is the do-over race because some team cheated and I pulled my "what kind of message are we sending to the kids" speech...we were able to go from 3rd to 2nd place from it.

They also tried to pull a fast one on us at the very end...My dept. was up by 10 and all the events that were listed were done. But somebody decided to take the top 2 teams and make a surprise final event worth 11 points...after a little rant..I said ok fine...the game was ring toss...different distances were worth different points from 1 point to 10 points...I made the other team go first because we were already up by 10 points...they all tried to go for the high scoring areas and only ended up with 5 points...the teams consisted of 6 people...so I was like everybody to the 1 point section...I'll go last...Everybody makes it with ease...so I'm the last to go everybody is yelling pressure...don't miss...etc. I play the part...make it all dramatic...biting my nails..pretend to wipe my sweat off my palms....drop it over the bucket..immediately walk over to the trophy...snatch it and yell out "give us our trophy!"

2 girls who rock in their own different ways...

So Leia got some tickets to the Rilo Kiley concert (THANKS LEIA!!!!). I've heard a couple of their songs and was curious to hear more and see how they perform....but lets get back to that...opening for them was this band called Lavender Diamond...so this girl pops out with what looked like a wedding dress...and i thought to myself, this is interesting...she starts off with a simple hello and peace offering and is just so happy that everything is peaceful...almost hippy-like and I was like uh-oh...but then she starts singing and swaying around with her arm movements, closing her eyes as she sings a la marie digby...it's very genuine and just too cute for words that I find myself falling for her...there's just something so endearing about the way she performs...see below...you can kind of see what I mean here although her performance at the greek was much much better...

So now onto Rilo Kiley...first a couple of side notes (which Leia informed me)..Jenny Lewis was from Troop Beverly Hills!!! I was like REALLY!?! And got amped up even more for the concert. I had the biggest crush on her back in the day...She was also in the movie the Wizard which I just remembered. The guitarist was also kind of a child star. He was Pinsky on Salute Your Shorts.

So..here they are now as Rilo Kiley and I must say I've become a huge fan. So talented! And my crush has been renewed...Jenny still looking super cute.

this is my favorite song of theirs...love the hat

oh yeah and to add even more of a plus she's the female voice in the postal service!!
